Movietone's taking a break

A portal, perhaps, attempting to bring the distant near. A reminiscence of films and players seen during 70 years. First seen in dark buildings surrounded by strangers and now watched again and again on diminished screens. Herewith some random thoughts on that flickering past. Remember when the lights went on and we had to leave the theatre? From Rick’s Café Americain to Lexington Avenue? Laszlo's on Lex.
One of my favorite lines from my favorite comedy. Do you recall Mrs. Bullock's reaction to the drink? I wouldn't expect it to faze her.
ReplyDeleteKC: You’re on the money again. Yes, I recall. We just saw on Turner Classic Movies yet again. The entire set piece from Jean Dixon -- then upstairs works everywhere, including Powell stopping the clinking noise under the lamp. Have had some experience with Worcestershire Sauce (plus Tabasco) in like moments. But it never quite had that effect. Sparkling film. Best. Gerald
