Unseen, but watching, is John Ferguson -- his old friends call him John, but his acquaintances call him Scottie. (With a mirror image of the same.)

Just goes to we're all multifaceted! :-) I enjoyed this very much. By the way, the U.S. Copyright office gives examples of how to handle authors who use multiple names, with "Carlotta Valdes" and "Judy Barton" as examples! (Also "Huntley Haverstock" and "Johnny Jones" from Hitchcock's FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT)
